An Army brat, Tom graduated from high school in Frankfurt, Germany. After graduation, he moved to Maryland and after several jobs, enlisted in the Army in 1958, which turned into a 22-year career. After serving overseas in Alaska, Greenland, Germany and Vietnam, Tom retired at Fort Devens, Massachusetts in 1980 as a Sergeant Major.
A second career began with Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) that same year and spanned the next 14 years. During that time, Tom attended night school and graduated from Western New England College. In mid-1994, as a sales manager for DEC in the Washington, D.C. area, an early retirement package was offered and Tom decided to use this as an opportunity to move to Florida.
A sales position with Citrus Hills Investment Properties presented an opportunity for Tom to obtain his real estate license and begin a new career. To further his real estate knowledge and his ability to better serve the public, Tom obtained his real estate Broker's license in 1997, and then applied for and received his Florida real estate instructor's permit in 1998. Tom taught the first classes held by the Realtors® Association of Citrus County's newly-formed real estate school in 1999.
Leaving Citrus Hills in 2002, Tom assisted the owners in the start-up of SanderSon Bay Fine Homes, a premier new home construction company, holding the position of Sales Manager and Broker through early 2005, at which time the company's owners created the resale division, SanderSon Bay Realty, LLC, and Tom assumed his position as the Broker/Manager.
Tom moved to Keller Williams Realty in late 2006 and became the Broker for the Inverness office. He is currently in the process of opening a Real Estate School for Keller Williams.
Tom McMurray works in the local real estate community serving as a member of the Board of Directors for the Realtors® Association of Citrus County and was elected to serve as the President in 2008. Tom also serves on the Board of Directors for the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce.
